The brief explored whether a large apartment could be divided into two independent homes: one with a single bedroom and another with two.

The existing dwelling had a long footprint, a succession of internal rooms and access beside the stair core. The challenge was to provide each proposed home with its own entrance, services and usable living space, while working with the distribution of exterior openings.

CcBcN Architecture organised the subdivision around the existing access area. Living and dining spaces occupy opposite ends of the original apartment, with kitchens connected to them and bedrooms arranged between the principal living areas and entrances.

The owner sold the property without implementing the project. The drawings document an unbuilt proposal, showing how the existing apartment could accommodate two households through a revised arrangement of access, rooms and services.
