Commissioned by an investment company, this refurbishment reconsidered how a 65 m² apartment could offer a more generous living environment within its existing footprint.
The long, tapering plan was divided into small rooms, with circulation running around the stair core. Retaining two bedrooms would have continued to restrict the size and arrangement of the principal living space.
CcBcN Architecture reduced the bedroom count to one and removed the partition between the two rooms facing the balcony. The resulting living room spans both exterior openings. The kitchen and bathroom occupy the middle of the plan, with the bedroom at the opposite end.
The completed apartment prioritises the quality of its shared living space over bedroom count. Exposed brickwork, timber doors and retained patterned tiles give continuity to the reorganised interior.
