The brief was to subdivide a two-bedroom apartment into two independent homes, each accommodating the essential domestic functions within a compact footprint.
The elongated plan required both homes to retain useful connections to the exterior openings. A conventional arrangement of enclosed rooms would have divided the available space further, while the existing ceiling height offered an opportunity to organise accommodation vertically.
CcBcN Architecture concentrated kitchens and bathrooms towards the centre and introduced mezzanine levels above portions of the interiors. This arrangement adds usable upper-level space while preserving full-height living areas beside the façade openings. Compact stairs and ladders connect the levels without requiring large enclosed circulation zones.
The completed homes combine open living spaces with distinct upper and lower areas. Existing patterned floors and decorative ceilings remain visible alongside the new structures, giving each apartment its own character.
