The comprehensive refurbishment of an office that had to accommodate two uses: classrooms for training coaches and the offices of the school delivering the courses.
The brief called for two fully independent uses that must not mix, either visually or acoustically. The original floor plan was largely open, but the services required the existing bathrooms and kitchens to remain in position.
The solution took advantage of one of the two entrance doors — closing off the other — and made it the spine organising the spaces. The central area serves as a reception ahead of the courses and as a break-out space for students, while also housing the services shared by both uses (bathrooms and kitchen). From this central area, the office zone and the classroom zone unfold on either side.
To emphasise that the office enjoys lighting and ventilation at both ends, all the enclosures are made of transparent glass, with butt-jointed panes in strategic positions to keep the two uses private from one another.
